We are welcome to come to Australia with money and contribute to the taxes but no one in the government cares at all for our parents who are living alone by themselves.

I am the only child in my family and we have submitted 103 non-contributory parents’ visa 12 years ago.

My husband and I are both working since we moved to Australia 17 years ago and we have been paying taxes since then, even during the lockdown and pandemic.

We are still both working and paying taxes year and year. Before the pandemic,  we would be able to see the calculator on the home affairs website to forecast how many years were left. Now the government cancelled the calculator and no one is able to guess how many years we will still need to wait.

We feel the government used us only to pay taxes but they didn’t do their job properly at all. Can anyone in the government is happy to wait more than 15 years to get their parent’s visa ? Of course not, they don’t care because they are not their parents. We are welcome to come to Australia with money and contribute to the taxes but no one in the government cares at all for our parents who are living alone by themselves.
