What is happening
As of 28 July 2022, the Department of Home Affairs is a backlog of 121,351 parent visa applications on hand (Link).
As a result of the Government’s decision to reduce the annual cap for parents, the applications on hand will take 20.22 years (=121351,509/6000) to be processed and granted.
