My husband Danny and I applied for the 143 Contributory Parent visa in August 2020. At the time we were told it would be a 5 – 6 year wait which was doable, but now we don’t think we’ll ever get to move to Australia to be with our son Sam who’s currently in Victoria and daughter Hannah who’s in currently in NSW. They are both residents. I’m now 60 and Danny is 64 so the new estimate of 13+ years wouldn’t make it feasible!! To say we’re heartbroken is an understatement… The Australian Government were happy to take our money but did not tell us the truth about how long it takes for things to be processed. We haven’t withdrawn our application as we live in hope that things ‘might’ change and we might get there but won’t be holding our breath!! It’s so hard trying to live a normal life here in the UK when your heart is on the other side of the world!!
She is all we have but how much longer do we have to wait?
