The contributory parent visa waiting time has disheartened our family to the point of depression.

My sister and I live in Australia. I am a citizen and she is a temporary resident working here as a public health worker.
Both our parents are overseas and in their mid 60’s.
We have been looking into options to get them here so they can spend their old age with us while we look after them.
The contributory parent visa waiting time has disheartened our family to the point of depression.
Why do we have to suffer if we are willing to bear all costs of them coming here and even willing to pay out of pocket for their medical here as long as they are allowed to come?

Other countries like Canada offer so much more with fewer wait times.

Telling us to wait 12 years for a visa that costs 45 000 per parent is not only ridiculous but cruel and has made us feel like second rate Australians.
