We applied for Subclass 143 visas for my parents in January 2017. At the time we were told the wait was 28-36 months. It has now been 5 and a half years and no one can give us a time frame or any idea when they might get their visas granted. We understand that Covid would have had an impact on it but also know that they were able to catch up on all paperwork due to there being no tourist visas being processed during the height of the Covid pandemic. Now that borders are open and things are getting back on track we really should be allowing more applications to be released for final processing. Our parents are ‘older’ and don’t have years and years to wait. They have already missed so much quality time with their grandchildren and we would love to be there for them as they get older. We worry for their safety in South Africa and can not help from so far away. We have been patient till now but please allow more visas to be granted so more families can be reunited before it’s too late for some!
To say we’re heartbroken is an understatement…
