It’s been 5 and a half long years and there’s no light at the end of the tunnel.

I am an Australian citizen, I moved to Australia in 2012 with my daughters age 6 and 10 at the time.

It was my dream to live in Australia with my family, raise my children, give them a good education and a bright future.

Settling down in this beautiful country I started to think about bringing my parents to live with us. I came across the parents contributory visa. We decided to give it a go because it was affordable for us financially and the waiting time was 18-22 months at that stage. We submitted subclass 173 in October 2016. Since that day we have lived everyday with hopes and prayers that we get to see them again. It’s been 5 and a half long years and there’s no light at the end of the tunnel.

My parents were 58 and 60 years old when we applied for that visa. Time goes fast, my daughters grew up without their grandparents, and my parents got older since seeing them 3.5 years ago.

I don’t know where to go or who to ask for help to process my parents visa sooner, I understand there are too many families like mine who want to have their loved parents closer and spend their lives with. I hope that day will come soon for us and for other people out there waiting for that moment
