We applied for 143 visa in July 2017 for my dad and dependent nephew and niece after the death of my mom and brother. The kids’ mother left them at my dad’s place. When we applied for the visa at that time the processing time was a maximum of 4-5 years. Next year, my niece will turn 23 and she won’t be eligible as per the rule changed in November 2016. It is seriously impacting my mental health due to the reduced quota. We are suffering and no one is there, back home, to help the kids and my dad. Now we don’t have any other options other than crying. Government should think about clearing the backlog.
