My mother’s mental health is suffering from the very long processing time, and I, a registered nurse, blame myself for choosing to migrate to Australia

My mother’s mental health is suffering from the very long processing time for her visa to be granted, and I blame myself for choosing to migrate to Australia.

My mother applied for a 143 contributing parent visa in 2019, she is on a bridging visa and currently working full time and paying taxes to the Australian government. “She is not a burden”. I am an Australian citizen and a registered nurse who has been working to support Australians through pandemics. We were told that it only take 4 years when we applied for 143 but now it has been almost 3 years with no response and not even received any queue number from the home affairs department. All my mom wants, is to settle and plan her life. Since we realise through the freedom of information and the total number of applications in the actual backlog, that my mother need to wait for more than 10 years to be granted, our hope and mental health are impacted and getting worse every single day, my skill and work experiences were in high demand across the globe and now I blame myself for choosing to migrate to Australia.
